i kinda hate the nerfing of the instances days after they've come out, but what i really hate is the nerfing of the intro related stuff. what's the point in making getting to 80 so damn easy? all the elite mobs that are now non-elite. all of the months spent leveling reduced to weeks. heirloom gear that makes a mockery of what we went through to get to 60/70/80. what is the rationale behind making this game so easy to play that a 10 year old, yes we have one in our guild, can get to 80 fairly easy? most people have pleveled their charactors so fast they haven't even been to 1/2 of the areas, ran 1/2 of the dungeons, have zero exalted/revered or even honored rep with anyone. and now with low level LFG, you can level your toon without even doing the quests. i sure don't want to tell people how to play the game, but blizzard has to be making a mint off this game, and their greediness to make it so easy that anyone can play through to end game content is rather sad.

Good news are, however, that there is no way a pug would get down Rotface and Festergut, and they are even still struggling on Saurfang most of the time :P

Gotta say that the new badge system is a pickle indeed. On one side, getting second-highest raiding tier is quite easy (resulting in people that have never cleared Ulduar on normal) in the newest raiding tier. That gives the problem of inexperienced people when fights become more complicated than Marrowgar or Gunship Battle, and those few people will be a huge cause of discomfort in a raiding guild.

On the other hand, if it wasn't so easy to get full offspec itemsets, I'd probably have remained as a tree for life ^^ There was a time when I switched my offspec nearly weekly from Moonkin to Feral tank depending on signups on the raiding day :p

Why u just can't enjoy game u play, the way u do it without looking at newbies gear? U know worked hard to get items from raid bosses, so why should u be angry at those newbies with bagde gear? If he takes your raid spot(imposible!), it shows he's better ;)

I think my biggest problem is what content gets what ilvl. To me, a player should either be on the 'casual' track, or the 'raider' track. Gear that drops from the casual track should just not help you on the raider path (unless it's a couple tiers of content ahead). To me, the ilvl breakdown should be like this:

Naxx/Sarth 10 - 200
Maly/Uld 10 - 213
Toc10/Onyxia25/Uld10 hardmode - 226
ICC10/ToGC10 - 239
ICC10 hard - 251

Naxx/Sarth25 - 219
Maly/Uld25 - 232
ToC25/Onyxia25/Uld25 hard - 245
ICC25/TOGC25 - 258
ICC25 hard - 271

I roughly tried to use existing ilvls, but the point is, a guild interested in 25 man content should follow this path:

Naxx/Sarth10 -> Naxx25/Sarth25 -> Maly25/Uld25 -> Toc25 -> Togc25/Icc25

A casual guild should follow the normal 10 man path. The point is, you would not be able to walk in to 25 man ToC in 10 man ToC gear, but you would be able to if you had icc10 gear.

Keep the 25 man gear from the PREVIOUS tier better than the 10 man gear from the CURRENT tier, and make the fights in 25 man harder (introduce new mechanics ala mind control in the deathwhisper fight) so that a guild needs to do 25man content of the previous tier before the 25 man content of the current tier.

Badge gear would be itemized at the same ilvl as the current 10 man content.

So, anyone who wants to SEE the content can in 10 man raids, but keep 25 man raids more difficult AND 2 steps above the 10 man level.

I would almost be in favor of sharing the lockout between 10 man and 25 man content, so that a guild was FORCED to choose between 10 or 25 man.

Let me put it in a different way: 9 months has passed since Ulduar, and 9755 guilds has killed Yogg-Saron on 25 man normal. One month has passed, and 9504 guilds has killed Saurfang 25 normal.

2536 guilds had cleared the Siege of Ulduar within a week of release of the instance. 2811 guilds cleared the four bosses in ICC within the first TWO days.

The TBC badge system, in the end, allowed for one full set of epics, and that was after a lot of content patches. And when you had that full set (after Sunwell was released and all upgrades was made on Isle of Quel'Danas), which put your average gear at SSC level - some below, some above, but good enough to go to BT. These items weren't even set items, and besides that, looked quite horrible :P

Currently, by only farming heroics, you can get a full set of tier 9.232, several crafted 245 epics and a good handfull of other items. We are currently facerolling ICC, but i dont think it would be *much* harder with slightly lower gear.

I remember Sunfyre writing something about the new instance, where, on his server, 19 guilds cleared the four bosses in ICC25 man on the day of release. My server surely didn't have 19 guilds kill Anub on the day he came out, most guilds didn't clear more than a few bosses in Ulduar on the first day (or days, there was a lot of lag on European servers).

Looking at Sunfyre's server, 29 guilds has cleared the bosses available in ICC. For comparason, 30 (thirty) guilds has killed Yogg-Saron on normal 25 since April 16th.

I don't quite understand how you can like the TBC badge system at Sunwell stage and then dislike the same system in wotlk. Yes, there are a few more pieces accessible (T9 232 + 2 245 pieces for set slot items) but overall it's the same. The problem might be the introduction of 3 new heroics (and thus full new loot tables), but that they also did with MgT.

I also disagree with you being equally matched against heroic-geared players : you are starting in 258 gear, the others are in 232 gear. The gap (not even talking about skill) is quite big and i don't see how you could not agree with that. Yes, what's available in ICC is doable in 232 gear probably, but only by people with skill/organisation (who have better gear by definition).
The problem might actually be due to the gating rather than the gear reset (1tier below), because that's the new thing that prevents more hardcore raiders from completely outmatching casual raiders in the new raid.
