Wouldn’t it be cool?

In a previous blog, I ranted a bit about the fact that our damage is tied up in two talents, that our key talents are rather useless and that our rotation lack some greater finesse, a move of awesomeness, something that makesa difference.

And it doesn’t really seem fair that I always bitch and moan without actually giving some suggestions for what could be changed. I can’t rightfully complain about what I have without saying that I want. So i started to think about what could fix our problems and add a bit more.. bling to our playstyle. Treants are nice, but they are not a massive part of our playstyle. We can do without, and when we decide to summon them, their damage is medicore at best. Starfall is fun and unique, especially on AOE packs, but it lacks the damage and general awesomeness on a bossfight.

It would have to be something that can fill the gap where we need it. Something that would benefit equally from haste and crit, especially when crit and haste are meeting some nasty soft caps. It could be a long cast spell, a channeled spell like Mind Flay, or a skill that modifies something we already have.

As moonkins, most of our our damage is dependant on keeping eclipse up as much as possible, and get the most out of it. That means making sure we cast as many wraths and starfires during eclipse as we can, and try to do other things outside of eclipse.

But while eclispe is a great boost to our damage, it is also the concrete wall we run into during every single fight. When our DPS is dependant on casting as much as possible during eclipse, it hurts us even more when we can’t.

Sure, every class lose damage when they have to move, but they can usually pick up their rotation straight after. A mage that moves for 10 seconds can simply start his rotation over, while we are almost certain to lose eclipse and have to spend time on proccing it again. At endgame raiding, proccing eclipse doesn’t take very long, but we are still talking about a few seconds every single time we have to get eclipse going again.

But I can live with that. We are somewhat balanced around it, and as our gear improves, this problem diminishes. But as our gear improves, it gives us a much bigger problem.
